Ahoskie, NC: Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center invites members of the community to our celebration of patients on October 4, 2024 at Ahoskie Comprehensive Care from 3pm-6pm. The event will include free games and snacks, musical entertainment, free meals to the first 600 guests, many informational tables, and giveaways—all distributed on a first-come, first served basis.
The Food Bank of the Albermarle will be distributing FREE food boxes at the event and the RCCHC Mobile Health Clinic will be there as well, completing health physicals for children 12 and over.
Many community businesses have donated to time, goods, and money to the event, including Aledade, Walgreen’s, Nucor, Equiscript, United Healthcare, Perdue, Commercial Ready Mix Cement Products, Quest Diagnostics, and local restaurants and shops like Mug Shotz, Home and Garden, Advance Auto Parts, Bertie Peanuts, Los Amigos, Napoli Pizza and Italian, Murfreesboro Creamery, and Andrew Brown Family Farms.
In addition to the patient celebration, in August RCCHC launched preventative dental services for a limited number of current pediatric patients at Ahoskie Comprehensive Care. RCCHC also celebrated our Agricultural Worker Outreach Team, which this year was recognized by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) with the “Outstanding Migrant Health Award.” You can read more about that award here.
The Patient Appreciation Event was rescheduled from National Health Center Week due to the effects of Tropical Storm Debby. This year’s NHCW celebration, held in August and launched by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), focused on “Powering Communities Through Caring Connections” through a host of scheduled events that include resource fairs, back-to-school drives, health screenings, and visits to health centers by local, state, and national leaders. With a mission to make high-quality, affordable care available to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay or insurance status, health centers save lives on the front lines of our nation’s most pressing public health challenges. They are powered by a workforce of nearly 300,000 dedicated professionals nationally and over 300 here in the RCCHC region who reach beyond the walls of the exam room to not only prevent illness but also address the social drivers that may cause it -- climate change, homelessness, substance use disorders, food insecurity and behavioral health.
